The engine on the older model is rated at 8hp. Here is the down and dirty on the machine. Pros: Power - able to cut through drifted snow 24" deep, Electric start - plug it in and push a button and away it goes, 6 forward speeds - gives you the right speed for the job, Price - good value for the money Cons: Marginal Quality. Bottom line - this machine is a good value for the dollar. Has performed very well over two Wisconsin winters with record setting snowfall. Starts on the first pull every time. 208 cc OHV engine runs cool and is very fuel efficient. Large tires give excellent traction. The only part I was somewhat disappointed in was the plastic chute. Not as durable looking as a metal chute. Performs well though.
